Hello Friends,

As this new year begins, God is putting it on our hearts to do more in the way of Christian service. With this in mind we want to bring an urgent need before you, as we believe He is working on all of our hearts in this way. Several years ago we met a delightful young couple at a family camp, and since that time they have become very dear to us. Jeff and Leellen Battaglia live in Pullman, Washington with their two little boys, Alex and Peter. In the past year Leellen has had serious health setbacks, with 4 months of chemotherapy treatments for cancer. She was in remission for a short period of time but now the cancer has come back. This time they prayerfully chose to go to Charlotte Gerson's well established health clinic and implement a more natural approach to fighting the cancer.

The Battaglias took out a home equity loan because it will not be covered by insurance. They have not asked us for help, but we are asking you. They are home again and Jeff has been taking care of Leellen and the boys, but he needs to return to work and is almost ready to collapse with all the pressure upon him.

We are asking for your prayerful consideration as to how the Lord would have you help to bring practical relief to this family. We have found someone who is willing to give them full-time assistance for a very sacrificial amount of $200/week. So if we can band together and donate $800/month it would enable them to have a full-time helper. You can imagine the relief this would be to each of them! Jeff and Leellen's food budget has been $400/month, but now the monthly bill is $1200 for Leellen's food alone, because of the vast amount of organic raw food and juicing involved. So you can see that this young family is in real need.

We would like to get enough pledges to cover $1600/month, to help with their excess food needs as well as the caregiver. We are asking you to prayerfully commit to what you can do. If 16 of us could sacrifice $100/month, or 32 of us $50/month we can do it. We ask you to be prepared to make this a year-long commitment. If at any time Leellen feels strong enough to take over, we will gratefully contact you and let you know that your commitment is released to be used to help others.
